  1. Hi,
thank you for the piece you did on Mr. Brittle and caring for his wife at home with the assistance of home and community based services. This is an especially important issue, and Tennessee needs to pass the bill to rebalance long term care. Of course there will be changes that not every entity will like or support, but for the good of the community, and the good for our elderly and disabled populations, and for the good of Tennessee, this bill should be passed. Please continue to update us on the progress of this bill.

  2. Kumari, in INDIA, is a last name of a girl who is not married.

What is the story behind your Kumari ?

  3. Cara,

We are from the BIG MO, and are Tiger Fans. No matter which state I live in…I am always a Tiger fan first….but if I want to watch college football I usually have to cave in for a secondary team like the TN Vols in this case.

Hang in there and good luck in your career.

  4. Why did you sensor my responses to your blog about the mess at the capitol?
    They appeared and then diappeared.

  5. You reported Monday night on possible legislation regarding lottery scholarships. The source for this funding would be the $90 million that is to be used for energy efficient programs for public schools in Tennessee. You further reported that the energy program, enacted in 2008. was a Republican initiative. Please check facts. This bill was brought by a Democratic House member. Because the Senate Minority Leader did not, and does not, support this program, this does not make it a Republican initiative. It is not difficult to report accurately, it just takes some checking. What is your knowledge of the origin of this legislation? If you were to check, you could learn who sponsored this bill in the House. Same sponsor did ask a Republican to sponsor in the Senate. Is accurate reporting that difficult?

    • Thank you for your comment Pam. If I remember correctly…I said that funding school construction was a “key Republican issue.” For the past two years, putting lottery money into K-12 capital improvements was a key issue for Republicans. Yes, the Energy Efficient School plan was brought to the table by House Democrats last session. I am aware of this and even wrote about it in several previous blogs. I was merely making the point that capital improvements are a huge project and big initiative for the party that currently has the majority in both houses, which signifies it could be a difficult fight. If that was not clear, I apologize.

  6. Ms. Kumari,

Tried to find an e-mail link in order to contact you directly about a story that you filed on 01 March 2009 but, I do not see you listed on the WSMV Website. What is your e-mail address?
    Thank you

  7. After reading the southern Senator’s comments on how autoworkers should take pay cuts…They should set an example by refusing the pay raise that they recently voted for themselves…In church we call that being “hypocritical”!!

  8. Your piece on guns at work used the attempted hijacking of a FedEx plane by another FedEx pilot.

I’m not sure what (exactly) you are implying there…

First off get your facts straight, the FedEx pilot was not armed with a gun, infact he had two claw hammers, two sledge hammers and a divers fishing speargun he concealed inside a guitar case. All of which do not fall under the law or circumstances you are reporting about.

You are implying wrongly I might add, that somehow this man was armed with a gun and attempted his hijacking, I find that utterly distasteful!

    Why did you choose this?

So you could paint gun owners and those who carry guns concealed as potential terrorists?

People who go well out of their way to obtain a state issued handgun permit are not the ones who commit the gun crimes.

Those people who commit the crimes are not inclined to nor do they obey the law, any law for that matter, that’s why they are criminals!

Criminals will carry their guns on anyones property regardless if its against the law or posted with a cute little sign saying no guns allowed.

Funny those signs to me, always screamed, “Hey criminals were all unarmed in here so its safe to come in a rob us!”

I tend to avoid those places for that very reason.
